Every storm dies down but the spirit at Gargi is not. The Principal, Ms. Promila Kumar and many teachers including Dr. Sheela Dubey, Dr. Geeta Mehta, Dr. Maju Sahai and Mr. V S Khan have been allegedly accused of mishandling the Gargi mass molestation incident and misleading students from knowing the actual facts of the incident leading to this terrible injustice.
The ICC comprises of the three latter teachers named above. Post the FCC formation and documentation all alleged crimes taken place during Reverie 2020, the Annual festival of Gargi college, the ICC has teachers that themselves have accusations of misconduct against themselves and haven’t been asked to recuse themselves. The students have zero trust on the current ICC which is trying to evade and ignore the demands of the students.
To make matters worse, the Principal has denied to disclose the Reverie Budget 2020 and has given a printed paper with answers to the demands of the hundreds of grieving students.

It has been pointed out that the situation at Reverie 2019 was also similar. Complaints were filed with FCC and the Union and no action had taken place, infact, the complaint was buried and never came to light.

A video on my Instagram account (@apurvahsahayaarzoo or copy link https://www.instagram.com/p/B8qEL3np0Pr/?igshid=17ol8mx8moje4) shows the Student Union President conveying a message by the Principal that the budget will be read out to the entire college but neither will they receive a written budget nor can they record or communication the verbal budget to anyone outside the college. These statements have raised further concerns of the students.
Was the money not judiciously used to protect and secure the premises of the all-girls college where a celebrity, Jubin Nautiyal, was performing. Obviously, the Festival was expected to be jam packed.
Students are being scared of turning this incident into a political issue to deter them from talking to an outer organization, they are being told to keep photocopies of their complaints but not being informed to get any signed receipts.
Some teachers have even pessimistically passed comments like “We apologize that we talk to you like we talk to our daughters, we wouldn’t tell you to not wear such short clothes showing your skin ever again, its our fault only, we apologize”. Students are still angered with the comment the Principal had passed when students had approached her during the commission of the mass molestation – “If you feel so unsafe, then why do you even come fests?!”.
